Uniform Standard
- All GIs/kimonos/uniforms must be clean and free of tears (to avoid injury) for every class. A dirty GI or No GI uniform is a sign of disrespect to your dojo, instructor and training partners. We suggest students having more than one uniform.
- All students must wear the official Silva BJJ GI or No GI uniform or have Silva BJJ patches.
- All students should have their names written in the inside of the GI top, bottom and belt.
- GI top and bottom must be the same color.
- Belt must be tied at all times.
- No GI class requires appropriate No GI uniform.
- Face the wall when tying the GI.
- All metal objects, jewelry, piercings, necklaces or other such items are prohibited.
- Utilize the shelves and cubbies for your training gear. Do not leave gear scattered or blocking the passages.
- No student is allowed on the mat with street clothes on during class.
- No shoes, food, drink or chewing gum on the mat.
Hygiene Standard
- All hygiene standards are based on the concept of team fellowship and respect to one another, the instructor and the dojo. All students share the responsibility of keeping the academy safe and clean.
- Attention to personal hygiene is mandatory. All students are required to be clean and free of foul orders. Professors hold the right to ask a student to leave if good personal hygiene is not being followed.
- All nails must be trimmed (fingers & toes).
- Long hair must be pulled back.
- Colored hair spray is not allowed.
- Earrings and all body piercings are prohibited.
- No lubricants or skin creams that may lead to an unfair advantage are allowed.
